Good morning (or afternoon, or evening, or night) everyone. My name is Dustin Anderson. I was raised in Minnesota, but have lived in Montana, Seattle, Michigan and am living in Atlanta doing a photography internship at the Foundation for Economic Education. Back in December of 2011 I received my B.B.A. in Economics and Business Management, with a minor in Finance, from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. I also have an A.A.S. in Computer Service and Networking from a small technical college in Minnesota.
When I began the B.B.A. program at Northwood I was looking to enter business and finance jobs (I began as a triple major, but knocked finance down to a minor), but have since reassessed my career goals and have redirected my efforts toward a job in academic teaching and research. To accomplish that goal, I have applied for, been accepted to, and have enrolled at George Mason University as an Economics PhD student. My research interests include development, comparative institutions, entrepreneurship, and the evolution of law and social custom. Schools of thought that have influenced my thinking on these topics are New Institutional Economics, Public Choice, Constitutional Political Economy, and Austrian Economics. At Northwood the title of my senior thesis, which I wrote under Drs. Dale Matcheck and Richard Ebeling, was, “Institutional Barries to Entrepreneurs in Mozambique.” At GMU, I hope to further such research and branch out into other areas as well.
Politically, I am a classical liberal and a philosophical anarchist.
My other interests include photography, cigars, pop culture, technology and Game of Thrones. The Big Lebowski has also had a big impact on my life and way of thinking.
I began blogging, mostly to improve my writing skills.
In the near future I will develop this page further, especially the last three paragraphs. For now, I’m going to enjoy a nice Atlanta day with a cigar and maybe a nice glass of Pinot Noir.
